While the mainstream media is focused solely on devoting its time to focusing on how a black man was shot and killed by two white men in Georgia, they are completely ignoring an incident that happened on Friday that was the exact opposite situation.
A black man who had been running from police came upon a married couple in a Delaware cemetery when he pulled a gun out and shot them both.
According to police, Sheldon Francis, 29, of Middletown, Delaware, shot the 85-year-old woman and 86-year-old man while they were visiting the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery just before 10:15 a.m. Friday. The woman died at the scene, while the man died the next day at a hospital.
Police found Francis dead around six hours after the shooting in a wooded area near the cemetery. Hours earlier, officers and Francis exchanged gunfire in the area.
It’s unclear if Francis died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or from a shot during the earlier gunfire, police said.
Police have not yet released the couples’ names pending family notification.
I’m still undecided as to what to think about the whole Ahmaud Arbery situation. My inclination based on everything that I’ve seen so far is that Arbery did burglarize a home or attempted to burglarize a home. The two men who went after him had first-hand knowledge of the incident. They are within their rights to go perform a citizen’s arrest. They are within their rights to open carry a shotgun.
Once Arbery ran around the truck and charged at the man holding the shotgun and began fighting over the weapon, both men were within their right to practice self-defense.
I do not believe Arbery was just some jogger minding his own business, the video is clear that he wasn’t just jogging.
I also do not believe it was the wisest thing to try and take matters into their own hands. Instead, they should have allowed police to get involved and take care of the situation.
